The content will be organised into the twin themes of matter and energy. The matter theme will explore basic chemical principles and how these principles can help us understand everyday topics such as the chemistry of nutrition and the chemistry of the environment. The energy theme will explore energy transfer and production, again with an emphasis on an understanding of common phenomena. Assessment is based on practical reports, tutorial assignments, final examination. This course is not available to students enrolled in a science programme.
